Working a full-time job and owning cattle can sometimes be a difficult task, but to me producing cattle is more than just a hobby. I was raised on a diversified operation in central Iowa and developed a small cow herd through 4-H programs. Throughout college those cow numbers decreased. After I started my family, we began to get back into the cattle business. Now we have 125 registered cows, primarily Chiangus and some Chimaine cows. We have a “closed herd” in which we can keep a tight watch on our cattle genetics. My wife, son, and I are glad to say that - like we know about our family, we know about our cow family as well. |
