Ranch Specialist

IMI Global

Castle Rock, CO or Remote Option

The Ranch Specialist serves as the primary contact between Where Food Comes From, Inc. (WFCF) and assigned accounts within region and/or program management. This position focuses on assessing and determining compliance of the operation’s program against established standards and program requirements and supporting Regional Managers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first line of superior customer service for ranch accounts within region and/or program

  • Address potential and existing customer questions about verification programs, specific claims, tags, Beef Passport, etc.

  • Prepare customers for onsite audits within region and/or program management

  • Communicate with onsite inspectors for upcoming, current, and past audits

  • Technical Review for compliance for various standards where appropriate

  • Follow up with and assist customers with corrective actions if necessary

  • Review audits for compliance to standards or program requirements

  • Compile audit findings into Verification Reports within timeline standards

  • Work with the customer to gather corrective actions for non-conformances

  • Issue approval documents to customers

  • Collect and report customer feedback. Assist with strategy on solutions if applicable

  • Send notifications to customers for renewals or delist letters

  • Assist customers regarding questions

  • Onsite audits of locations as assigned within region and/or program management (estimated to be 25% - requires travel)

  • Perform any other responsibilities as needed


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, food science, animal science, or other applicable field and/or 5 years of experience

  • Livestock and/or Agricultural background and experience in beef

  • 2 years of customer service experience

  • Highly detail-oriented and self-motivated

  • Teamwork attitude with a strong aptitude for professionalism and courtesy

  • Ability to process a high volume of data in a productive and quality driven manner with a strong sense of urgency

  • Ability to keep accurate records, prepare and manage files, reports, letters, and billing

  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills required

  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing with internal/external staff, vendors, and clients

  • Maintains alignment with Where Food Comes From, Inc.’s Mission, Purpose, and Values

  • Flexibility, focus and resilience in the face of high workload and competing demands

  • Maintain confidentiality

  • Discipline in following defined processes

  • Self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning


Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Livestock and/or Agricultural background and experience

  • Certification, Verification, and Onsite Inspector experience

  • Food and/or feed processing/manufacturing facility experience

  • Experience in industries with agriculture, agri-food systems, sustainability, and/or food and beverage certifications is a plus

  • Possess a problem solving and solution-oriented approach coupled with a client focused mindset


Physical Requirements

  • Able to use standard computer keyboard on a frequent basis.

  • Able to walk up and down stairs and to sit for up to 8 hours.


Working Conditions:

  • Monday-Friday

  • Some travel required (~25%)
