This role is a hybrid with 50% travel to customer locations to conduct poultry audits and 50% onsite as Program Manager at the Validus office in Urbandale, IA being the liaison and point contact for clients and contract auditors.
Poultry Auditor Roles and Responsibilities:Â
Verifiers will be trained on program requirements and participate in ongoing training, knowledge sharing and process improvements
The core verification process includes: coordinating verifications with the office and customer, preparing for onsite verifications, conducting verifications, completing the verification checklist and submitting all relevant information to applicable internal teams
Use technology such as an iPad or tablet for gathering information for the audits
Biosecurity would need to be followed per the client’s request
Individuals would not be able to own any poultry or birds of any types as this would be a biosecurity issue with the farms that we audit
Other duties as assigned
Program Manager Roles and Responsibilities:Â
Lead client communication and producer meetings
Manage contract auditors and track audit schedules and timelines
Coordinate with clients on upcoming deadlines and scheduling of audits
Notify auditors of changes in biosecurity and/or timelines
Communicate any audit delays or issues with clients and internal team
Participate in regular calls with Packers, Industry groups, and certification organizations
Attend meetings and webinars to stay abreast of industry updates
Answer client and auditor inquiries
Source new auditors for program
Track auditor performance and client satisfaction for future auditor placement
Maintain detailed record of status for each client and escalate any high priority needs
Develop and maintain effective, sound, and healthy communication with clients, auditors, and internal and external teams

Required Skills:Â
Extensive knowledge of agricultural systems, with a primary focus in poultry, processing facilities and food manufacturing
Knowledge in poultry including laying hens and broilers
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture and 5 years of experience OR 15 years of experience in the industry
Potential auditors would need to either have a PAACO poultry certificate or willing to go through the PAACO training to obtain certification
Independent and free of conflict of interest
 Driver’s license or ability to obtain rental vehicle and travel to each location
Fair-minded and able to maintain an objective approach at all times
Strong critical thinking skills
Excellent organization and attention to detail
Strong aptitude for professionalism and confidentiality
Exceptional communication skills and heightened attention to detail
Strong sense of urgency towards customer service and task management
Self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Preferred Skills:Â
PAACO (Professional Animal Auditing Certification Organization) certified for poultry
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office with the willingness to learn proprietary IT systems – hardware, software and mobile applications
Additional working knowledge and experience in any of the following categories is a plus and will be weighted heavily in preference: beef, swine, crops, and/or feed productions systems
Practical field experience in agriculture, food science, or food production
Food safety and quality standards.Â
Livestock and/or Agricultural background in poultry, dairy, swine, feed mills, SQF, and/or HACCP
Experience with high level of contractors and accounts payable
Experience working with 3rd party verifiers
Possess a problem solving and solution-oriented approach coupled with a client focused mindset

Physical Requirements
Able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds
Able to use standard computer keyboard on a frequent basis
Able to walk up and down stairs and to sit for up to 8 hours
Able to travel in a vehicle hours at a time - 50% of the job

Working Conditions:Â
This role requires travel 50% of the time and is onsite Monday-Friday 8am-5pm the remaining 50% of the time.Â
Must be able to commute and work from the Urbandale, IA office
