The Contract Auditor for Regenerative Organic Certifier (ROC) program is an independent contractor who is responsible for conducting onsite audits at Where Food Comes From Organic’s client locations in agriculture.
Roles and Responsibilities:
100% travel as the schedule dictates
Auditors will be trained on program requirements
The core verification process includes: coordinating verifications with the office and customer, preparing for onsite verifications, conducting verifications, completing the verification checklist and submitting all relevant information to applicable internal teams within established timelines
Ensure client records are thoroughly maintained
Book travel, hotel, and transportation according to company policy and submit applicable expense reports for reimbursement
Use applicable checklists, forms and technology such as an iPad or tablet for gathering information for the audits
Adhere to all of the customer’s quality and code of conduct standards including but not limited to: Biosecurity, SQF (Safe Quality Food), and GMP (General Manufacturing Practices)
Maintain professionalism and positive customer relationships and respond to all client inquiries and concerns. Elevate concerns or questions to internal team
Attend required trainings, internally and externally, to maintain qualifications to conduct audits and knowledge of applicable regulations and standards
Must be in located in the United States
Additional assignments may designated
Required Skills:
We will consider qualified organic inspectors who have interest in conducting ROC inspections and demonstrate a willingness to pursue the necessary training at their own expense
Auditing and/or verification or certification experience
Extensive knowledge of agricultural systems, with a primary focus in organic
Completion of the ROC auditor training and IOIA Basic Inspection Course(s), in the applicable scopes of Crops, Processing and/or Livestock
Familiarity with the USDA National Organic Program (NOP) rule and ROC
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and/or related agriculture field preferred OR 15+years professional experience in the same field(s)
Able to travel throughout the region nearest to home base
Driver’s license or ability to obtain rental vehicle and travel to each location
Independent and free of conflict of interest
Fair-minded and able to always maintain an objective approach
Strong critical thinking skills
Excellent organization and attention to detail
Customer-service focused with proven communications and people skills
Strong sense of urgency towards customer service and task management
Strong aptitude for professionalism and confidentiality
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and willingness to learn proprietary IT systems with hardware, software and mobile applications
Working Conditions:
Independent contract position: pay is per an audit completed
Remote with 100% travel as the schedule dictates, mostly overnight
Temperature extremes of high heat or cold, including indoors and outdoors
