Co-Founder, CEO and Chairman
John Saunders founded Where Food Comes From, Inc. (formerly IMI Global, Inc.) in 1995 with an anticipation of the critical role information technology and verification would play in the future of the agriculture and food industries. Since that time, Where Food Comes From, Inc has grown to become a leader in providing source and process verification services to over 10,000 farms and ranches across the United States. The company’s clients also include some of the largest corporations in the food production, processing and retail industries.
Today the company offers a wide variety of verification and certification solutions, including source, age, no added hormones, humanely handled, grass-fed, organic, gluten free certification and Non-GMO verification. More than 50% of the beef exported from the United States is verified by Where Food Comes From, Inc. every year.
Prior to founding Where Food Comes From, Inc., John was born on a small family farm in northwest Ohio and attended Yale University where he was a double major in American Military History and Environmental Sciences. John was also a football player and was selected as the 117th captain of the Yale Bulldogs football team in 1994. While a student at Yale, John developed a strong interest in business development and entrepreneurship as the operations manager of two student-run businesses on campus.
